An artists website is a website where an artist can make their own individual website,it is where they can post there own music/videos online. One music video outlet is artists websites, an example of this is http://www.slipknot1.com/ which is a website made by the heavy metal band slipknot, this website helps give information to there audience. This is good for the audience because it is a website that you can access very easily and this is good for the audience because it wont take that long for them to find the website and it only takes a simple search of the name of the band and you will immediately find the link to it, it is very convenient for the audience and is good for the artist since the website will be noticed more since there is easy access to it, people might visit it more often. There is usually a lot of information about the artist on their own website, this is very good for the audience because it helps them access information that they need about the artist, this is good for the artist because it gives them  have a chance to reveal facts about themselves online and lets their audience know more about them, this helps them by getting them more popularity, the more people know about them, they might get other people to know them as well, so by giving information about them online they make there audience expand.

Something about artists websites that is bad for the audience is that sometimes the artists website might not work in certain countries  and this might upset the audience since they might live in a country  that the website does not work in, having the website not work in certain countries since they might want to know information about the artist or access everything you could do on the artists website, but find out that they couldn't use the website because it wouldn't work in the country that they lived in. This is also bad for the artist since this affects the popularity of the artist. People that live in a country that the website doesn't work in might think differently about the artist, since they might think that the artist might not like the country that the website doesn't work in and wont like the artist, this affects the artists popularity and what people think about them. 

One thing about artists websites that is bad for the institution is that sometimes the website could get hacked by someone, and if someone hacks the website, they could do whatever they wanted to the website and write absolutely anything, this is bad for the institution and the artist since the person that hacks the website might write and add negative things about the artist or either the audience, on the website, and by doing this, it might decrease the size of the audience and they might make the audience not like the artist anymore since they might not know that the artist's website got hacked and might think that the artist purposely wrote this on their website to mock them, this gives the artist a bad name since not only the audience will think differently about them, but other people that dont know about them might think differently about them, since if they just see the website, they might see the negative parts about the artist and will think differently about them.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media is a place where you can go online, and talk to people online, it lets you post pictures/videos online and interact with others through the internet. Social media is good for artists since that lets them interact with there audience and can let their audience know whats happening and help give information to the ones they cant directly talk to. By using social media to talk to their audience, the artist can easily get reviews from people which is good so they could easily see if they could improve on something, they can easily get feedback from just online rather then just going to reviewers in real life, so it saves time for the artist, and since it is through the internet, the artist can also get reviews from their audience to see what they think, and to see what they like so that the artist could improve on their work.One social media website that many artists use is a website called Twitter https://twitter.com/ it is a social media website that most artists use to either interact with there fans and might talk to other artists to possibly collaborate with them with the audience knowing at the same time, it is a website that anyone can use which is an advantage for the audience and the artist. An example of someone that uses this website very often is the pop artist named Katy Perry who has 77,556,534 audience members that follow her.

Social Media is very good for the audience since it is free to use and you can use it whenever you want without having to pay for it. You can use it whenever, wherever you want since it is world wide as well. Since it is free, people who might not have that much money could use it for free and they could do a lot with the internet, such as interact with the artist they like and might get some information about that artist and know more about them and that could lead to them possibly liking the artist more, which again is good for the artist since that leads to more popularity. Many artists use social media to tell their fans if there is anything happening in the future or something about them, this is good for the audience because it helps them keep up to date with there favorite artist so they can know more about them. Having social media being free is very good for the audience because if its free, they might use it more often and it will give them something to do. With social media being free, a lot of people will use it, and with people using the website, the institution will get more money which is good so they can keep the website going and might update it more.

Even though social media is has a lot of benefits such as anyone can use it, that does still include hackers, this is bad for both the audience and the artist because this can lead to their social media accounts being hacked and that could be bad because the hacker could write anything on the artist's or audience's accounts and when they do that it could lead to people who were not aware that the person got hacked and might think that they wrote that on purpose and that could lead to people possibly not liking the artist anymore which is bad for the artist since that will lead to bad reviews and there popularity will decrease since most of there audience would of seen them differently. This is bad for the artist since sometimes they could not do anything about it, another example is when the band "Papa Roach" got there facebook account hacked and someone started posting random links that could lead to the audience getting viruses which was bad for the audience since that might lead to there social media getting hacked and the same thing could happen to them. With accounts being hacked, people that get hacked might complain to the industry that made the website, this is bad for the industry because with too many complaints, the website that they make could be shut down, people might leave the website and not use it anymore, which might lead to the institution losing money.
 

DOWNLOADS (LEGAL AND ILLEGAL)

Downloading websites are websites where you can basically download music either legally by paying or illegally by going on a certain website and download the content for free. This is a common type of website that many people use to get music. An example of a downloading website that is legal is http://www.apple.com/itunes/?cid=OAS-US-DOMAINS-itunes.com which is a website where you can buy some music and that money you use supports the artist since when you buy it, that money is sent to the artist, this is good for the artist such as Marilyn Manson because the money helps them get more money, and they get more well known, and they can get on the charts with all the support from people buying their songs.

It is really good for the audience, to use a legal website to download music because whenever you use a legal website to download something, it is always good quality and will usually be a lot better then some illegal file you could download, the content you buy will always be clear and you can enjoy the type of content you would be expecting when downloading, with this it tries to get the audience to have what they want which leads to customor satisfaction and because of that people will use the website more often and that leads to the institution getting more money. Even though it is very easy to find the music you need and it is free, some files that you can download can contain a virus without you knowing and it could destroy or hack your computer, which is bad for the audience since their computer could be ruined from the corrupted file they downloaded. Because people getting hacked because of viruses, the ones that get hacked might complain to the institution and will stop using the website and if people stop using the website the institution will lose money.

There are also some websites where you can download music illegally such as Pirate Bay https://urbanproxy.eu/ which is a website where you can download music for free but there can be consequences such as, you can go to prison if you get caught downloading music for free which has happened before, the maker of the website Peter Sunde has been arrested for making the website and other people have been arrested for using the website to download illegal content, which is bad for the audience since they could go to prison.

Illegal websites are bad for artists since if their audience doesn't actually buy their music, they lose money since their audience members are just downloading the music for free, which could lead to money not going to the industry leads to not the artist might not be going on the charts or they could get less well known since most people might just get their music for free.

MAINSTREAM TV

Mainstream TV is TV channels that you don't have to pay for and is non subscription, mainstream TV is good for both the artist and the audience since you don't have to pay for it and people with not that much money can use it, it is an advantage for the audience because since it is free they can use it any time and there is many channels they can watch something music related, and popular songs play all the time on mainstream TV so the people watching will most likely always be listening to the songs that they enjoy. Since mainstream TV is free and anyone can use it anytime they want, artists can get recognized better and more often since people might see their music videos more often and might start liking them which is good for the artist because, by this they can get better reviews from people and that could lead to them getting more money and get more popular,. When people watch Mainstream TV channels the institution that made that channel get more money which is good because they can get more popular and that leads to more fame for them and the artists.

Artists can do many thing on mainstream TV such as play live performances on TV an example of this is 4music. such as when Olly Murs performed live on their channel. this is good for artists that first start out can get more popular and they can finally get a chance to be on TV and that will lead to them having a bigger audience since people who might not of heard of them will finally get to see them, which leads to their audience growing which makes them more popular.This is good for the institution that make the channel since if many artists want to be on their channel then they will get recognized more by their audience and will be able to get more money. Not only can this be good for new artists but it can help artists albums get more popular, such as when Olly Murs released his album "Never Been Better" he performed some songs on 4music which made the album more popular and lead to it go onto the charts.

One thing that could be bad for the audience about mainstream TV is that there is a lot of  annoying adverts that people might not intend to watch and this could annoy the audience and because of this the audience might not want to tune in to that channel anymore since their might be too many adverts, this is also bad for the industry that made the channel will lose ratings and this is bad for the new artists because people might not recognize them if people stop watching the mainstream TV channel.

 MUSIC CHANNELS  

Music channels are channels that have most of there content being music videos, it is mostly 90% on there channel.there are many music channels that people can watch music videos and an example of one is Kerrang! http://www.kerrang.com/ which is a music channel that only shows rock/metal music videos. Music channels are good for the institution since many people tune into music channels and, they are a popular genre on TV which leads to many people watching them so they can get a lot of money, Music channels can earn money in many ways such as getting money from adverts. If a company wants their advert to be put on that channel they pay the institution. Another way that they can earn more money is that artists pay the institution that made the music channel to put their music on their channel so that they can get noticed more.A example of this is how Kerrang! always play the music videos of the band Bring Me The Horizon which helps them and the music channel get more noticed since both of the audiences of the band and the channel will watch the same thing, which will be good for the institution, since their audience will expand.

One thing that good for the audience is that popular songs always plays and there is a variety of  songs for them to listen to so they have a good experience when watching the music channels.The institutions that make  music channel try their best to access customer sanctification so that people will still watch since that the music they like will be playing. Sometimes the music channels don't always play the songs that some people like which might be a problem for both the audience and the institution that make the music channel, since if the institution will play songs that the audience doesn't like then the audience might get a bit annoyed for keep listening to songs they don't even like, which might lead to them stop watching that music channel which is bad for the institution since if people stop watching then that is bad for their business because if they get less viewers then they get less money.

When Bring Me The Horizon released there new album That's the Spirit, they made three music videos which appeared first on KERRANG! which lead to their new album to go to number 1 on the Apple charts since they knew many people in their audience watch KERRANG! so they knew that their music videos will diffidently be seen.

One disadvantage about music channels with the institution is that not many people watch music channels since they can just have a playlist on their devices and listen to songs they like anytime, so this is bad for the institution since if not many people watch their music channel, they might not get very well known by people and might get forgotten, this is also bad since if not many people tune in, companies wont want their adverts to be on the channel or artists might not want their songs on that channel, it could lead to the institution leading to losing money and be bankrupt.

Something about music channels that is bad for the audience is that there could be some adverts that people wouldn't want to watch in the first place, sometimes the adverts could be long and annoying and would stop you from listening you the music that you like, this could lead to people stop watching that channel. Another disadvantage is that not all the music channels will have the music that you prefer which is a disadvantage because that means you wont always be able to listen to music that you enjoy, because the music channel might not even like the music that is the same as the ones you like.

STREAMING WEBSITES 

Streaming websites are websites that allow you to access content such as videos. they are a website that is very popular on the internet because of the content you can receive from it. Streaming websites are used  very often by many people. One of the main reasons for this is because almost all streaming websites are free to use, and you don't have to pay to use it, because it is free, people can use it anytime they want and they can use it anywhere. This is good for the audience, especially for those who might not have that much money. A example of this is a website called YouTube which is a website that has a variety of videos for the audience to watch. This is good for them because they cant really get bored of the website and that will lead to them keep going on the website over and over again. Having people continuously going on the website is very good for the institution that made the website because that will lead to the institution getting more money which is good for both the institution and the audience since if more money is given to the institution so that they can update their  website and by having the website updated, the audience can enjoy the website even more.

YouTube is a place that some \artists would think that is a good opportunity to make a name for themselves such as when Justin Bieber debuted his first song onto YouTube, he got noticed from the artist Usher and ended up being one of the biggest singers of today. When he first started he had only less than 70 subscribers before he was noticed, currently he has 15,181,676 subscribers. This is good for YouTube because if many artists go on YouTube, their audience will go to YouTube as well which is good for the industry since more people going on the website means that the website will become more well known all around the world, and now that led to YouTube being one of the biggest websites of today.

One way the institution can get money is that some companies can ask them if they can put their adverts on the website so that they can promote a piece of content in a better way, an example of this is how YouTube have a lot of adverts all around their site, on every page you go on YouTube, you will find a advert of some form. This is good for the institution because with the money they gain from the companies, it helps them get more well known and that could lead to more people going on the website which will lead to more profit for the institution. Even though having adverts is very good for the institution, it can be very annoying for the audience because most people don't like seeing adverts before the videos that they want to watch, because it sometimes seems inconvenient and a waste of time to some people. some people in the audience find adverts annoying and just want to skip them, which sometimes they get the chance to skip but there are some times where you have to watch the whole advert, which is time consuming and could lead to some people might not using the website anymore. 

Sometimes people use streaming websites such as YouTube as a way to do illegal downloading with hacks and other websites to download illegal music and by using that they can get music for free, this is bad for artists since if people get the music for free, the artists cant get any money, this is a disadvantage for the industry that made the streaming website could get complaints from artists which is bad because that could cause problems for the website such as that it might give them a bad name.

DIRECT CD/SPECIAL EDITION CD/DVD

Direct CD/special edition CD/DVD is basically a collection of music videos on a DVD and can be very convenient to some people and it is good for the audience since it adds more content to the CD the audience member that gets it  will get exclusive content that other people wont have which is good because it will make that person feel special. This content will be higher quality than the content on the internet. They contain backstage content that noone has ever seen before so that this might be the first time someone would see it, again might make the audience member feel special compared to others. By getting exclusive content such as music videos or even live concert footage. The exclusive content on the CD/DVD might contain that audience member inside the video, an example of this is when Beyonce released her self titled album that contained a live concert that contained some audience members, this is an advantage for the audience since they might see themselves in the video and show their friends and family.

Because of all the extra content on the CD or DVD then that means that by having the CD on your device that can have music, it will take up a lot of space on the device and might be bad for the audience that got it since it could take too much space so that you might not even have any more space to download anything else. Also because of the extra content, this CD/DVD will cost more than the normal CD/DVD which is a disadvantage for the audience since the audience member might not even have enough money to buy that CD/DVD. Even if someone can afford to buy the special edition CD or DVD. This is good for the institution that sells it because of the extra content, which will lead to more money since the CD/DVD will be more expensive. most shops that sell CD's or DVD's don't sell CD's or DVD's that contain exclusive content, which is one thing that might disappoint the audience since they might want to get  that CD or DVD that had the special content but couldn't be able to get it due to not knowing any stores.When making the packages and cases for the exclusive CD/DVD the institution that make it have to put a lot of money into ,making it since they have to make it special, such as add something different than a normal CD/DVD case would look like and it usually costs a lot of money to make such as,they have to pay for making more materials that will be used in the special edition package and all that money could go to waste since some people might not even know about it and that would lead to all the money that the institution going to waste, also the institution has the make the packages multiple times which might mean more and more money will go to waste.When this happened the people who made the special cases for Beyonce's self titled album, alot of money was put to waste since not as many people bought the special edition CD, one of the main reasons is that some people downloaded the content illegally which lead to a lot of money for materials going to waste.
